Covering the Thames Valley, Solent, Surrey, Kent and the South Coast, The Business Magazine has a stated mission to inform, connect and promote businesses in the South and Southeast. In recognising high-achieving businesses as part of its annual Solent 250 Awards, Europlacer was named by the influential publication as the International Company of the Year category winner for 2022.
The Solent 250 Awards focus on the top privately-owned SMEs and larger corporations across the region. This year’s event celebrated new winners judged in 2022 and honoured business awards postponed from 2020 by the coronavirus pandemic. This is the first year that Europlacer has been recognised by The Business Magazine’s award judges.
Julian Boardman, Group Finance Director at Europlacer, accepted the award on behalf of the company at a Gala Dinner hosted at Southampton’s Harbour Hotel. “We had our best ever sales year in 2021, which was slightly surprising coming on the heels of the pandemic and despite supply chain problems and staff shortages,” says Boardman. “That was down to our strong market presence in the US and China and new product releases that were well received. We also started a joint venture with a company in Kenya using an investment of Europlacer equipment so they could manufacture printed circuit boards in Nairobi. As far as we know, this is the first such facility in sub-Saharan Africa and it is serving new customers.”
