CalcuQuote, a leading supply chain solutions provider for the electronics industry, has launched Product Change Notifications (PCN), a new capability designed to help electronics manufacturers identify component risks before they become quoting, sourcing, or production problems.
Integrated directly into the CalcuQuote workflow, the feature surfaces product changes such as end-of-life (EOL) notices, obsolescence alerts, supplier changes, and expiring compliance exemptions where users already make purchasing and quoting decisions.
For many EMS providers, product change notices are often discovered after a quote has been delivered, a purchase order has been issued, or a build has already been scheduled. By that point, the options are limited and frequently expensive.
“Most teams don’t have a visibility problem. They have a timing problem. The challenge isn’t finding product change information. It’s getting that information in front of the right people while there’s still time to act on it.” said David Sharp, CEO, CalcuQuote.
The new PCN functionality monitors parts throughout the sourcing lifecycle, beginning with BOM import. During BOM scrubbing, active alerts are automatically identified and attached to affected components, allowing teams to evaluate risks before investing time in pricing and procurement activities.
Monitoring continues after the quote is complete. A BOM that appears healthy during quoting can become problematic days or weeks later when a manufacturer issues an end-of-life notice or product change announcement. CalcuQuote continuously monitors BOMs and notifies users when new alerts are issued, helping teams avoid surprises between quote acceptance and production.
The feature also extends into component search and inventory monitoring workflows. Buyers can view PCN status alongside pricing and availability data, while sourcing teams can track high-volume or strategic parts across multiple customers and receive notifications when new alerts are published.
Each alert includes supporting information such as alert type, issue date, last-time-buy (LTB) dates, last-time-ship dates, alert descriptions, and links to the original source documentation.
For EMS companies managing thousands of active components across hundreds of customer BOMs, the value is straightforward: fewer surprises, more time to react, and better decisions before a supply chain issue reaches the production floor.
Product Change Notifications are now available within the CalcuQuote platform.
