The manufacturing sector in the United Kingdom has seen its workforce fall from more than four million people in 2000 to around 2.5 million in 2025. Although increased automation accounts for much of this shift, the industry still faces the challenge of an aging workforce.
This is why over the past two months, ZOT Engineering welcomed two groups of students from Napier University and Heriot-Watt University, both institutions well known for their engineering programmes. By giving students first-hand insight into modern manufacturing, the company helps them consider this field as a potential career path after graduation.
These visits continue a long-standing support programme offered by ZOT Engineering. Working closely with representatives from both universities, the company provided an in-depth look at high-level PCB manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, and sheet metal fabrication.
