KIC, experts in electronics assembly thermal process temperature profiling and monitoring, is proud to announce that it has been honored with a 2025 Mexico Technology Award in the category of Process Control Tools for its KIC HeatMap™ real-time oven monitoring system, powered by its advanced Thermal Analysis System (TAS) software. The award was presented during a ceremony held at SMTA Guadalajara 2025, celebrating innovations that are shaping the future of electronics manufacturing.
KIC HeatMap™ is a revolutionary enhancement to KIC’s profiler-based ecosystem that transforms traditional thermal profiling tools—like the SPS Smart Profiler and X5 Profiler—into always-on, in-process monitoring systems. Designed to fill the gap between initial oven setup and ongoing process stability, HeatMap™ delivers real-time visibility into zone-level oven performance throughout every production shift.
This breakthrough system combines a multi-zone HeatMap™ probe, embedded into the oven, with a KIC profiler and theTAS software to track even the smallest thermal drifts. Engineers and operators gain access to live, graphical displays that compare oven performance against reference profiles, with automatic tolerance detection and instant alerts when deviations occur. Optional light bars can be installed to provide immediate visual warnings on the production floor.
“HeatMap™ gives manufacturers the insight they’ve been missing between profile runs,” said Miles Moreau, General Manager of KIC. “It’s about moving from reactive to proactive—catching issues before they become problems, reducing rework, and enhancing process reliability”.
By maximizing the use of existing profiler hardware—raising typical profiler equipment utilization from about 10% to over 90%— KIC HeatMap™ offers an affordable, high-impact upgrade that improves thermal process control without requiring new ovens, major hardware changes, or workflow disruption. Compatible with all major reflow and curing ovens, HeatMap™ can be self-installed or supported by KIC field service engineers, making it easy to scale across facilities.
Combined with KIC’s TAS software, which includes AI-driven tools like the Common Recipe Finder and intuitive dashboards, HeatMap™ empowers manufacturers with traceable, data-driven control. And with KIC’s ecosystem of solutions it offers a step toward more comprehensive automatic profiling and thermal process inspections systems in the future.
