Hanwha Techwin Automation Americas, Hanwha Precision Machinery’s North America branch office, is proud to announce that it has been awarded the 2024 Mexico Technology Award in the category of Component Placement – Multi-function for its innovative XM520F Multi-Functional Mounter. The award was announced during a ceremony held on Sept. 11, 2024 before the start of SMTA Guadalajara event in Mexico.

The Hanwha Techwin XM520F Multi-Functional Mounter stands out with its versatility in handling both Surface-Mount Device (SMD) components and through-hole components. Equipped with a variety of nozzles and grippers, the XM520F is designed to manage a wide range of odd-type components, making it exceptionally adaptable for diverse production needs. Its ability to handle an extensive array of component types—including tape, stick, tray, bulk, radial, and axial components—demonstrates its innovative design and superior engineering.

The XM520F achieves remarkable performance metrics, boasting an optimum throughput of 30,000 Components Per Hour (CPH) and 8,800 CPH when using laser-light and gripper technology. This significant speed enhancement ensures high productivity and efficiency in manufacturing operations, reducing cycle times and boosting overall throughput.

Quality is at the forefront of the XM520F’s design. Its advanced component handling power allows for precise placement of components ranging from metric 0603 chips to 150x75mm in size, 55mm in height, and weighing up to 300g. The machine’s force control, with a maximum of 100N, ensures delicate components are handled with care, minimizing damage and ensuring high placement accuracy. Additionally, the use of laser lighting and backlighting technologies enhances the recognition of components with irregular surfaces or semi-transparent materials, further contributing to placement accuracy and quality.

Gustavo Jimenez, Mexico General Manager of Hanwha Techwin said: “The XM520F Multi-Functional Mounter is a testament to our ongoing efforts to provide our customers with cutting-edge solutions that enhance productivity and quality in their operations.”
