Yamaha Motor Europe Robotics announced today that the company will expand and renovate the office buildings that were built in the Toyooka-cho area in Kita-ku,Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture at the end of 2016. The initiative is set to expand the production capacity of the Hamamatsu Robotics Office, which develops, manufactures, and sells surface mounters and industrial robots. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2023, with all work to be completed by June 2024.

As a result of this expansion and renovation, the total floor area of the office buildings will be approximately 1.6 times the current level to approximately 82,000m2, the production area will be expanded by 1.8 times, and the production capacity of surface mounters will be doubled. By expanding the development area, and improving the environment for evaluation and laboratories, the initiative is also intended to promote steadier product development. In addition, the company envisions the realization of next-generation offices through the installation of smart showrooms and carbon neutrality support. The project is expected to strengthen manufacturing, sales, technology, and service systems in the new environment.The strengthening of the base through this expansion and renovation is part of the company’s strategic investment in growing businesses under its new medium-term management plan (2022-2024). Yamaha Motor will further enhance its customer-oriented systems for technology, sales, and services, which is the strength of its robotics business, and work towards reinforcing profitability by expanding the scale and business area in a growing market.
