Statement by David Jilot, Pioneer Metal Products’ VP of Manufactured Products, about Acquisition of Electrochem Solutions by Pioneer
“Responding to current supply chain challenges across the semiconductor industry, we’re making immediate plans for process expansion at Electrochem Solutions’ facility in Union City, California. In addition, we have plans to export their unique capabilities to other Pioneer facilities across North America, offering our customers increased capacity and vital redundancies in precious-metal finishing.

“For complex, critical-tolerance applications – including sensitive deposition chamber equipment – we can now deliver solutions with enhanced conductivity, superior EMI shielding and premium corrosion protection. Electrochem has specialized in highly engineered precious-metal plating, electroless nickel, aluminum anodizing and clean room-based related services since its founding in 1982.

“Combining their highly specialized capabilities with the resources and innovation of Pioneer enables us to tackle challenging applications that 95 percent of our industry could not even attempt. We’re at the tip of the spear, leading the semiconductor space.

“Along with its approved-vendor status with many high-tech customers in semiconductors and electronics manufacturing, Electrochem also serves numerous Fortune 500 companies in the aerospace/defense, medtech and automotive industries.

“Our new Electrochem division increases Pioneer’s North American workforce to more than 1,000 employees, with eleven facilities comprising over one million square feet of manufacturing capacity. Francisco Ruiz, currently General Manager, will continue leading this division.”

Pioneer Metal Finishing, LLC (“Pioneer”), a portfolio company of Aterian Investment Partners (“Aterian”), is pleased to announce the acquisition of Electrochem Solutions, Inc. (“Electrochem”).

Founded in 1982 and based in Union City, California, Electrochem is a leading metal finishing company in Silicon Valley. David Rossiter, Owner of Electrochem, “Pioneer is the right choice for Electrochem, our employees and customers. Pioneer is recognized as the ideal buyer for family and founder owned metal finishing businesses. I am confident Pioneer will be a great home for our employees and customers because of our shared goals and values.”

Daniel Krasnow, Principal at Aterian, “We are excited to continue to build upon Pioneer’s strategy of acquiring leading metal finishing businesses. Electrochem expands Pioneer’s presence on the West Coast and adds new technical capabilities Pioneer can build upon.”

Brandon Bethea, Co-Founder and Partner at Aterian, “We are excited to complete the third acquisition since our investment in Pioneer. We have been acquiring market leading businesses that help expand Pioneer’s end market presence and technical capabilities. Electrochem is another family or founder owned business, which builds upon Aterian’s established practice of investing in family or founder owned companies.”

Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP advised Pioneer on the transaction.
