More than 100 SMT manufacturers from all over the world attended the ASM Impact livestream event on January 27 to learn about the latest hardware and software developments. In addition to many improvements of DEK printers and SIPLACE placement machines, three products were unveiled for the first time: With the second generation of the SIPLACE TX micron, ASM presented a new solution for advanced packaging and precise high-volume SiP placements with an accuracy of up to 15 µm. In the software segment, ASM presented two new solutions: ASM FactoryChat for shop floor communication and ASM Factory Equipment Center for asset and maintenance management. Two features that users will really appreciate: both solutions are offered via flexible software-as-a-service licenses and can be used for equipment from any manufacturer throughout the whole factory. People who missed the ASM Impact livestream event can watch it on demand at www.asm-smt.com.

ASM’s new releases offer users many ways to make their factories more productive, reliable, and resilient. With their latest updates, almost all printing and placement systems as well as the extensive portfolio of factory solutions software gain new functionalities or clear improvements in usability and integration.

The event also featured totally new solutions. For DEK printers, DEK Typhoon is a new, more powerful understencil cleaning system that was designed for the special challenges posed by super-small apertures, multi-level stencils, and shorter cycle times. And DEK MASS provides a solution for printing on singulated substrates with high-precision optical alignment.

The fastest and most accurate SIPLACE placement solution ever built

With the new generation of the SIPLACE TX micron, ASM is introducing the fastest and most accurate placement solution the company has ever developed. The placement performance of the machine, which was designed predominantly for advanced packaging and system-in-package applications, has been raised to up to 96,000 components per hour. Depending on its configuration, it covers the precision classes of 25, 20 and 15 µm @ 3 σ and reduces component distances to as little as 50 µm.

Software solutions for the integrated smart factory

The ASM Works core package and its eight upgrade modules establish a comprehensive software infrastructure for shop floor management in the connected factory from the machine level to the corporate level and from planning to monitoring. By including even more functionalities, ASM Works now brings the user another step closer to the fully integrated smart SMT factory.

The already comprehensive ASM software portfolio has been increased by two totally new solutions. For asset and maintenance management, ASM Factory Equipment Center brings a new level of transparency to all service processes. The browser-based software controls and automates service and maintenance schedules for all types of equipment from any manufacturer anywhere in the factory, supplies work instructions and checklists, and documents all procedures. ASM FactoryChat is a messaging and communication tool for people as well as machines. It links troubleshooting measures and a whole lot more in a knowledge database that is always accessible. Shift reports, work instructions and other information can be distributed to any groups with the click of a button. ASM offers both new software solutions for the first time as a service that can be flexibly scaled as needed in order to replace investment expenses with operating costs and minimize investment risks.
