Luminovo, the AI platform for the electronics supply chain, is opening its software to AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that connects AI assistants to business software. Electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers and electronics manufacturers in Europe, the UK, and the US can query their own supply chain data in plain language and build their own apps on top of it. Starting at electronica, the MCP is available in beta to selected customers on request.
One data foundation for quoting and procurement
At most manufacturers, the data behind quoting and purchasing sits in ERP systems, spreadsheets, email threads, and part search engines. Through the MCP, AI assistants read that data in Luminovo, together with live market prices, lead times, and supplier information. Both sides of the supply chain use it:
- An EMS cost estimator can ask, “Price this customer BOM with our current supplier contracts and flag parts with lead times over 12 weeks.”
- A buyer at an electronics manufacturing company can ask, “Which parts in our active BOMs are end-of-life, and what does that cost us based on our spend?”
From a question to an app
A question that comes up every week becomes an app. Teams describe what they need in their AI assistant and build their own tools on Luminovo: an agent that checks every active BOM for end-of-life parts and lead times every Monday at 5 a.m., an app that prepares supplier negotiations, or a quote check before every customer offer goes out. No coding skills or IT project are needed.
Customer results show what a shared data foundation changes. At EMS provider Omega EMS, quoting a complex bill of materials (BOM) takes about 20 minutes instead of half a day. For manufacturers buying electronics, Luminovo reports typical savings of 3–5% of electronics spend in its customer business cases.
“With the MCP, a new era begins for the electronics supply chain. EMS providers and manufacturers work with Luminovo in the AI assistants they already use and build their own apps for their processes. Every company gets its own Luminovo, shaped around the people who build electronics.” said Sebastian Schaal, co-founder and managing director of Luminovo.
Live at electronica
At electronica in Munich, November 10–13, 2026, Luminovo shows the MCP live for the first time (Hall B5, Booth 478), and visitors can build their own app on Luminovo at the booth. On Thursday, November 12, at noon, Sebastian Schaal speaks at the EMS and PCB Forum on “Ask, build, automate: the next wave of AI in the electronics supply chain software.” On November 11, Luminovo also hosts the second Munich Electronics Night, where more than 400 professionals and executives from the electronics supply chain have registered.
About Luminovo
Luminovo is an AI platform for the electronics supply chain. Electronics manufacturers and electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers use it to bring their own data, live market data, and suppliers together. Quoting Intelligence supports EMS providers with quoting, and Procurement Intelligence supports manufacturers with electronics procurement. Through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Luminovo connects to common AI assistants and lets teams build their own apps. More than 400 customers use Luminovo, and the platform connects to more than 180 partners and integrations. Founded in 2017 by Sebastian Schaal and Timon Ruban, the company now has more than 100 employees with offices in Munich, New York City, and Austin, Texas, and is ISO 27001 certified.
