Indium Corporation, a leading provider of innovative materials solutions for electronics assembly, semiconductor packaging, and thermal management applications, announced that Andreas Karch, Regional Technical Manager and Technologist – Advanced Applications, has received the prestigious International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 1906 Award recognizing his exceptional contributions to global electrotechnical standardization. Karch received the award at a special IEC ceremony in Offenbach, Germany.

Karch serves as chairman of the IEC Sintering Technology Committee, and his leadership is helping bring together industry to establish the technical framework needed to support reliable, consistent, and high-performance sintering process standardization. Sintering continues to play an increasingly important role in advanced power electronics, particularly in applications using next-generation semiconductor technologies, and Karch’s efforts to develop robust international standards have been critical.

The IEC brings together experts from 170 countries to develop international standards that underpin global trade, innovation, safety, and reliability across electrotechnology. The IEC 1906 Award—named for the year the IEC was founded—recognizes exceptional individual achievements that significantly advance IEC technical committees or conformity assessment systems.

Andreas Karch provides technical support to customers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, sharing process knowledge, technical guidance, and application recommendations for Indium Corporation’s complete portfolio of solder paste, solder preforms, fluxes, and thermal management materials. He is an ECQA-certified development engineer and has earned a Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
