Green Circuits, a full-service electronics manufacturing services (EMS) partner to leading OEMs in aerospace and defense, medical and health technology, industrial electronics, and semiconductor and AI hardware markets, has expanded its manufacturing capacity with the successful installation and commissioning of its sixth SMT production line. The new line increases the company’s SMT capacity by approximately 20% as Green Circuits continues to see increased demand across its customer base.

The new SMT line combines high-speed placement, in-line solder paste inspection and advanced reflow capabilities to support Green Circuits’ high-mix production environment. The configuration includes a Juki G-Titan screen printer, Nordson Test & Inspection SE-600 3D solder paste inspection system, a Juki FX-3 chipshooter, two Juki RX-6 pick-and-place machines, and a Vitronics Soltec Centurion 14-zone reflow oven.

“Bringing our sixth SMT line into service is an important milestone for Green Circuits and comes at a time when we are seeing increased demand across our customer base,” said Mark Evans, COO. “The additional capacity gives us greater flexibility to support our customers while maintaining the quality and responsiveness they expect from us.”

For the sixth line, Green Circuits made the strategic decision to continue with Juki pick-and-place technology. In a high-mix manufacturing environment, flexibility, fast changeover and the ability to accommodate a broad range of component sizes are critical. The Juki RX-6 platform supports these requirements while providing increased placement throughput through its dual-gantry architecture, which allows the machines to pick and place components simultaneously.

“In a high-mix environment, the ability to move quickly between jobs is just as important as raw placement speed,” added Evans. “Juki’s flexibility allows us to efficiently handle the variety of products and component sizes that move through our factory, while the dual-gantry RX-6 machines provide a significant productivity advantage over some of our older platforms.”

In-line 3D solder paste inspection was another key requirement for the new production line. The Nordson Test & Inspection SE-600 provides automated inspection of solder paste deposition, enabling Green Circuits to monitor one of the most critical processes in SMT assembly and identify potential issues before they progress further into production.

Completing the line is a Vitronics Soltec Centurion reflow oven featuring 14 heating zones and a 20-foot tunnel. The extended reflow capability is designed to accommodate some of the most challenging boards produced by Green Circuits, including high-layer-count designs and assemblies incorporating 4- to 6-ounce copper layers.

The sixth line expansion is part of Green Circuits’ broader investment in manufacturing capacity and capabilities. The company has already received confirmation that its seventh SMT line is nearing shipment from the Juki factory, while the eighth and ninth lines are currently in the quotation stage.

The continued expansion positions Green Circuits to respond to growing customer requirements while maintaining the high-mix, high-reliability manufacturing capabilities required for increasingly complex electronic assemblies. Through its combination of engineering, PCB assembly, testing, box-build integration and supply chain services, Green Circuits supports customers from product development and prototyping through volume production and system-level integration.
