The presentation will examine the growing role of millimeter-wave technologies and the measurement challenges that accompany their continued development across communications, radar, medical, security and automotive applications.
Millimeter waves, generally defined as frequencies from 30-300 GHz, are increasingly being incorporated into technologies and systems that require high-frequency communication, sensing and detection. In the automotive sector, for example, modern commercial vehicles already utilize multiple millimeter-wave radar systems operating at 24 GHz, 60 GHz and 79 GHz to support safer driving.
As millimeter-wave communication and radar technologies continue to advance, measurement technologies are evolving alongside them. High-precision measurement instruments and sensors are enabling more detailed data acquisition and analysis, while specialized measurement approaches are becoming increasingly important for evaluating system performance and reliability.
The webinar will explore several areas of growing importance in millimeter-wave measurement, including near-field interconnect testing and millimeter-wave electromagnetic-field visualization. These technologies are becoming essential tools for understanding system behavior, improving performance and supporting reliability as operating frequencies continue to increase.
A particular focus of the presentation will be Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement, which has become an important part of testing millimeter-wave radar as well as 5G and emerging 6G millimeter-wave communication technologies. The webinar will examine the primary challenges associated with OTA measurement and present practical proposals for addressing them.
