Absolute EMS, Inc., a Silicon Valley–based provider of high-technology electronics manufacturing services, has expanded its production capabilities with the purchase and installation of a Pillarhouse JADE S-200 MKII selective soldering system. The new equipment strengthens the company’s soldering capabilities while providing customers with increased process consistency, flexibility, and capacity for demanding PCB assembly requirements.

Designed for flexible, small- and medium-batch manufacturing, the JADE MKII is a handload, single-point selective soldering system that delivers controlled solder application to specific through-hole connections. The system is capable of accommodating PCBs or pallets up to 457 x 508 mm (18 x 20″), providing flexibility for a range of board sizes and applications.

The JADE MKII incorporates a three-axis solder bath and pump mechanism, allowing the soldering process to be precisely controlled while maintaining access to the PCB. Its Drop-Jet fluxing system is designed for efficient flux application and low maintenance, while the system’s inert nitrogen environment helps minimize oxidation and improve solder wetting. The machine is also compatible with lead-free soldering processes.

For Absolute EMS, the addition of the JADE S-200 MKII provides another production resource for applications where selective soldering offers advantages over conventional wave or manual soldering. Selective soldering can provide repeatable solder joints, reduced thermal exposure to surrounding components and greater control over individual solder connections. The use of an inert environment can also help reduce oxidation and soldering defects.

“Investing in the Pillarhouse JADE S-200 MKII gives us another important tool for delivering consistent, high-quality assemblies to our customers. The flexibility of selective soldering is particularly valuable for the types of products and production requirements we support. This equipment allows us to improve process control and repeatability while giving our customers additional options for complex through-hole assembly.” said Mark Sika, President of Absolute EMS.

The installation further demonstrates Absolute EMS’s ongoing investment in manufacturing technology and process capabilities. By combining advanced equipment with its existing electronics manufacturing expertise, the company continues to provide customers with scalable production solutions designed to support quality, reliability and efficient manufacturing from prototype and low-volume production through higher-volume requirements.
