Advanced Rework Technology Ltd. (A.R.T.) will present an informative seminar on the importance of design for manufacture at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2026, alongside its exhibition presence and continued support of the IPC Hand Soldering Competition.
As part of the event’s Electronics & Semiconductors Conference programme, A.R.T. Master IPC Trainer, John Vickers, will deliver a seminar titled ‘Getting it Right First Time Every Time to Aid in Sustainable Manufacturing’. Taking place on Wednesday 4 February at 13:00, the session will focus on the importance of design for manufacture and the role of process control, standards and training in achieving consistent manufacturing outcomes.
Drawing on his extensive involvement with IPC European and global Standards Development and Training committees, John will explain how industry-recognised standards provide a common technical language across design, fabrication, assembly and inspection, helping manufacturers translate requirements into repeatable, measurable results.
John Vickers, Master IPC Trainer at A.R.T., said: “Getting products right first time is not just about quality on the production floor; it starts much earlier. When design, process control and standards are aligned from the outset, manufacturers reduce rework, improve durability and create products that are easier to support throughout their lifecycle. Industry standards give teams a shared reference point, but the real value comes from understanding how and why those standards should be applied in practice.”
Beyond the seminar, A.R.T. will exhibit on Stand C22 throughout the event, where the team will be available to discuss the implications of recent IPC standard updates. The company will also present its consultancy and solutions portfolio, covering soldering, rework, inspection planning, materials evaluation and process optimisation.
A.R.T. will once again support the Global Electronics Association IPC Hand Soldering Competition, with Ben James, Master IPC Trainer, and Mark Harvey, IPC Master and Certified Trainer, representing the company on the judging panel. Ben will also support and judge the new IPC Cable and Wire Harness competition, which will be hosted at the event for the first time.
Visitors to Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2026 can meet the Advanced Rework Technology team on Stand C22 from 3–5 February at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre, and attend John Vickers’ seminar on Wednesday 4th February at 13:00.
