Stannol, a leader in soldering technology, is pleased to announce that its ALU 1 Flux‑Cored Solder Wire has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Mexico Technology Award in the Solder – Bar and Cored Wire category. The award was presented during a ceremony held at SMTA Guadalajara 2025.

The ALU 1 solder wire is engineered specifically for soldering pure aluminium and aluminium alloys—materials notoriously difficult to join with traditional solder. Its flux system contains no toxic substances and relies on chemically modified resins rather than natural rosin. Classified as a No‑Clean flux under J‑STD‑004 (REM 1), ALU 1 leaves only minimal, non‑corrosive residue—typically eliminating the need for post‑solder cleaning.

Key Features of ALU 1:

  • Designed for Aluminium: Enables effective wetting on aluminium and its common alloys by combining non‑toxic activators.
  • Health & Safety Optimized: No natural rosin, no toxic substances; flux content approximately 3.5 wt %, halide content around 0.06 %, and classified REM 1 under J‑STD‑004.
  • Excellent Electrical Reliability: Exceeds surface insulation resistance requirements, achieving >10⁸ Ω after 7 days at 85 °C / 85 % RH without evidence of corrosion.
  • Versatile Applications: Ideal for cable assemblies, wound-motor manufacturing, heat sink assembly, and inductor production.

“Winning the 2025 Mexico Technology Award for ALU 1 highlights our focus on pushing soldering boundaries,” said Thomas Ruch, Business Development Manager Americas at Stannol. “Soldering aluminium has long been a challenge in electronics assembly—ALU 1 overcomes that with safety, reliability, and ease of use.”

The Mexico Technology Awards recognize the most recent technological innovations in Mexico’s manufacturing landscape, spotlighting achievements by OEM manufacturing equipment and materials suppliers over the past year.
