The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) has established itself in Mexico as a dynamic, professional, and strategic network that drives the growth of the electronics manufacturing industry. With a strong presence across the country, SMTA strengthens its commitment through four regional chapters: Northeast, Chihuahua, Querétaro, and Guadalajara, creating an ecosystem of technical collaboration, continuous training, and direct connection between suppliers, manufacturers, engineers, and key industry players.

What is SMTA?
Founded in 1984 the United States, SMTA is a global non-profit organization that promotes professional development in electronics manufacturing and surface mount technology. Its mission in Mexico is clear: to elevate technical knowledge, encourage the exchange of best practices, strengthen engineers’ skills, and strategically connect key industry players.

SMTA Chapters in Mexico: Regional Strength with National Impact
SMTA Mexico operates through a regional structure that enables close engagement with the country’s most important industrial hubs:
SMTA Northeast: Covers cities such as Reynosa, Monterrey, Matamoros, and Saltillo. It focuses on strengthening the electronics supply chain in northern Mexico through high-value technical events.
SMTA Chihuahua: A region with strong international activity, this chapter is a key hub for technology exchange, thanks to its concentration of maquiladoras, engineering centers, and product design operations.
SMTA Querétaro: A rapidly growing region, home to thriving technology clusters ranging from automotive to medical electronics. SMTA supports this growth with specialized forums and expos.
SMTA Guadalajara: Known as the tech capital of Mexico, this chapter leads in organizing major exhibitions, international conferences, and impactful technical networking events.
