Weller Tools, the industry leader in hand soldering solutions, is proud to announce its support of the upcoming SMTA Michigan Expo & Tech Forum by donating a limited-edition 80th Anniversary Black Soldering Set to the event’s student soldering competition. This premier event takes place Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Laurel Manor in Livonia, Michigan, from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM ET.
In a move to inspire and empower the next generation of electronics manufacturing professionals, the Weller 80 Black Set — featuring a precision soldering iron and advanced fume extraction unit — will be used live during the competition and awarded to the winner as part of their prize package.
Hosted by the SMTA Michigan Chapter, led by chapter president Sean Kincaid of K&F Electronics, the Expo offers attendees free technical sessions, free lunch, and the opportunity to network with top-tier suppliers from across the electronics manufacturing industry. The student soldering competition will be a highlight of the event, showcasing young talent as they put their skills to the test with real-world tools and guidance from industry leaders.
“We’re thrilled to support this grassroots effort to get students excited about soldering and electronics,” said Jeffrey Jasuta, Senior Marketing Manager, Weller Tools. “Our 80th Anniversary Black Set represents a legacy of quality and innovation, and we couldn’t think of a better way to pass the torch than through this competition.”
Weller Tools invites educators, professionals, and students alike to attend the SMTA Michigan Expo, cheer on the competitors, and witness the power of precision soldering up close. Join us in celebrating innovation, education, and the future of electronics manufacturing.
