Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) is pleased to announce the launch of its next-generation G4 Spin Coater, delivering enhanced control, connectivity and usability for research, development and small-scale production environments. Additionally, the company has released new design improvements to its 6800 Series spin coaters, reinforcing SCS’ reputation for durable, user-focused equipment.

The G4 Spin Coater builds upon the success of the G3 model, introducing several significant upgrades designed to improve both operator experience and system performance. One of the most noticeable enhancements is the addition of a touchscreen interface, which offers intuitive navigation and removes from the unit to support use inside fume hoods and glove boxes. In addition, a newly relocated utility panel allows easier access to connections, improving setup and compatibility across lab environments.

An optional feature on the G4 Series is software control, which includes Bluetooth® communication. The enhanced software provides a streamlined way to wirelessly monitor system diagnostics, manage coating profiles and adjust settings. With the ability to store up to 30 programs with 20 steps each, the G4 supports a wide range of application needs, from photoresists and dopants to polyimides and metallo-organics, while maintaining precise control over spin rate, acceleration and process repeatability.

The SCS 6800 Spin Coater has been updated with a newly engineered lid system to improve reliability and ergonomics. The new hinged, raised PVC plastic lid with an integrated handle makes daily operation more accessible and durable. A modern sensor replaces the former mechanical lid switch, providing smoother function and reduced wear over time. These updates maintain the integrity of the system while reinforcing its value in academic and industrial research labs where performance and ease of use are essential.

“Both the new G4 series and the improved 6800 series reflect SCS’ continued focus on real-world functionality and long-term reliability,” said Rodney Miller, SCS Equipment Business Segment Director. “We worked closely with users to refine what matters most – interface, access and control – while ensuring the precision and consistency that SCS systems are known for.”
