Incap Electronics Estonia has been awarded a golden label by the Responsible Business Forum in Estonia for the second time. The responsible business label is a prestigious symbol in Estonia that identifies entrepreneurs and organisations that demonstrate excellence in environmental, social, and economic responsibility.
The Managing Director of Incap Estonia, Margus Jakobson, said that the company’s long-term commitment to responsible business is reflected in its continuous development across key sustainability areas. “We have taken deliberate steps to strengthen our efforts in environmental, social, and economic responsibility over the years. Starting from the bronze level in 2019, progressing to silver in 2021, and reaching gold in 2023, we are pleased to have retained the golden label again this year. It highlights our steady progress and the strong foundation we have built,” Jakobson said. “We see this as both a recognition and a responsibility to continue raising our standards.”
In 2024, the company adopted new sustainability targets aligned with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the Incap’s updated Sustainability Programme based on its double materiality assessment. One of the key goals is to reach higher renewable energy use in 2025 leading to lower CO2 emissions. The company tracks progress across key indicators, including energy efficiency, employee well-being, and environmental impact.
To support these goals, Incap Estonia invested in a high-resolution x-ray system in 2025 to improve quality control and reduce material waste. The company has reduced electricity consumption year-on-year, from 2,040 MWh in 2021 to 1,786 MWh in 2024. It also sources over 40% of its materials from Estonian suppliers, creating added value for the local economy. In parallel, Incap has continued cooperation with educational institutions and developed youth-oriented initiatives to raise awareness of the electronics industry. One of these, the Incap Legends project, connects young people with technology through e-sports. The company has also supported the student-led solar-powered car project Solaride with production for several years and continues the collaboration in 2025.
Jakobson added that sustainable operations are vital to meeting both customer expectations and long-term business goals. “As a growing international electronics manufacturing company, responsible and trustworthy business practices are an integral part of our mission. Our sustainability efforts help us remain a reliable partner and support our role in the local community.”
With more than 100 employees, Incap Estonia is one of the largest employers on Saaremaa island. The company produces electronics for a range of applications, including smart energy systems, electric mobility, and marine technology, with products exported globally.
The Responsible Business Forum in Estonia awards quality labels at the gold, silver, and bronze levels, based on evaluation of corporate responsibility in environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The assessment methodology has been developed in cooperation with international experts, following the principles of the UN Global Compact, ESG frameworks and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This year, the assessment was heavily based on EU CSRD framework, which is adopted by Incap, due to compliance requirements.
