Standard Printed Circuits and Epec Engineered Technologies announce that Epec has completed the acquisition of Standard Printed Circuits, further expanding Epec’s domestic manufacturing footprint and high-technology printed circuit board capabilities.
Epec LLC, founded in 1952, is one of the fastest-growing high-technology electronics companies in North America. Epec designs and manufactures high-reliability products for OEMs around the world, including printed circuit boards, flex and rigid-flex PCBs, custom battery packs, user interfaces, cable assemblies, CNC-machined components, and flexible heaters.
Standard Printed Circuits, with a manufacturing history spanning nearly 60 years, has built a strong reputation as a trusted U.S. manufacturer of time-sensitive, high-technology printed circuit boards, with particular expertise in PTFE and other advanced PCB technologies for OEMs serving some of the world’s most demanding industries.
Ed McMahon, CEO of Epec LLC, commented: “We are extremely excited to welcome the Standard Printed Circuits team to Epec. They have built a tremendous reputation for technical expertise, quality, responsiveness, and customer service, all of which fit seamlessly with Epec’s long-term domestic manufacturing strategy. Adding Standard Printed Circuits gives Epec our fourth domestic manufacturing location and demonstrates our continued commitment to investing in U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities. As our customers look for stronger, more reliable domestic supply chains for increasingly complex products, we believe having multiple specialized manufacturing facilities in the United States provides a significant competitive advantage.
“The Bormann family built a tremendous business, and we intend to invest in it, grow it, and build upon what has made Standard successful. We have already committed more than $300,000 in new manufacturing equipment that will be installed within the first six weeks of our ownership.
“As part of that investment, we have just installed a new MicroCraft EMMA Flying Probe Tester and a Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) impedance testing system. These additions allow Standard to provide customers with in-house electrical continuity and isolation testing, along with controlled impedance verification, capabilities that are particularly important for the complex RF, microwave, and high-speed PCB technologies that Standard specializes in. Bringing these capabilities in-house will improve quality control, reduce dependence on outside testing services, and help shorten manufacturing lead times.
“Just as importantly, Standard’s customers will continue working with the same experienced sales, customer service, engineering, and manufacturing teams who understand their products and their businesses. Our objective is to preserve what Standard does exceptionally well while providing the additional technology, resources, investment, and global capabilities of the Epec organization.
“We have successfully followed this strategy before. Since acquiring NetVia Group in 2020, we have grown that operation from approximately $6 million in annual sales to more than $20 million. We see a similar opportunity at Standard Printed Circuits and look forward to making the investments necessary to support its customers, employees, and continued growth for many years to come.”
The acquisition strengthens Epec’s ability to support customers requiring advanced PCB technology, rapid response, domestic manufacturing, and dependable supply-chain solutions. The combined organization will continue investing in equipment, technology, engineering resources, and manufacturing capabilities to meet the evolving requirements of high-reliability OEM customers throughout North America and around the world.
