SolderKing Assembly Materials Ltd, a leading British manufacturer of high-performance soldering materials and consumables, has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise, one of the UK’s most respected business honours.

The Yorkshire-based business is one of 197 organisations nationally to be honoured with this prestigious award. Announced today (6 May 2025), SolderKing has been recognised for its excellence in International Trade for outstanding short term growth.

Established in 2018, SolderKing has achieved remarkable business growth in a relatively short time frame. The company has made significant strides in overseas markets, with international sales rising by 71% over the past three years. The company now exports to a growing number of countries, including Ireland, Scandinavia, and Central Europe, and exports represent 44% of total sales.

Chris Ward, Chief Operating Officer at SolderKing said:  “We are extremely proud to receive this prestigious recognition at SolderKing. As a relatively young company founded just six years ago, we identified export markets as a key growth opportunity early in our development. By implementing a strategic combination of direct sales and distributor partnerships, we’ve been able to rapidly expand our footprint despite challenging economic conditions. This success is a testament to the dedication of our team, the strength of our customer relationships, and the consistent demand for high-quality, compliant soldering materials. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing our international growth in the years ahead.”

The company’s approach highlights how UK manufacturers can achieve success in global markets. SolderKing has developed a flexible international trade model that adapts to the specific needs of each region, offering direct supply in selected countries, such as Ireland, alongside a carefully managed distributor network. This model ensures close customer support, technical expertise, and efficient market access, enabling the company to compete effectively in highly technical and demanding sectors.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The Award programme, now in its 59th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country.
