The SCANFLEX II combination module enables a test object to be connected simultaneously to the SCANFLEX II controller and the FlashFOX
Particularly in the manufacture of PCBA assemblies, inspection is usually very time-consuming, yet essential for ensuring quality. Add to this the programming of chips, and the handling time quickly adds up to several minutes. The new SCANFLEX II combination module from GÖPEL electronic reduces this valuable time. With the SFX II TEM MUX module, test items can be connected simultaneously to a boundary scan controller and a flash programmer via a shared external TIC/POD. Depending on the requirements, the system automatically switches between the SCANFLEX controller and the FlashFOX. To facilitate integration into existing test systems, the solution uses only standardised connectors, enabling straightforward integration or expansion. Automatic switching of the power supply to the connected external TIC/POD ensures fully dynamic and reliable operation of the external TIC/POD under all operating conditions, which minimises changeover times between different test objects in production.
In practical application, the setup can, for example, first be used to perform a boundary scan test on the device under test, followed by rapid flash programming via the FlashFOX in a single step. This also supports devices that do not originally have boundary scan or emulation interfaces, as the FlashFOX provides this connectivity. The SFX II TEM MUX is controlled fully automatically via the EXT interface of the SFX II controller through its integration into the SYSTEM CASCON software platform. Automatic power supply switching ensures that the connected external TIC/POD is supplied with power at all times.
SCANFLEX is a modular JTAG/boundary-scan controller architecture. Based on state-of-the-art multi-core processors and FPGAs, it enables users to implement test and programming technologies from Embedded JTAG Solutions. Thanks to its multifunctional architecture, these technologies can be combined flexibly and with high performance on a single platform. SCANFLEX II supports up to eight independent, truly parallel Test Access Ports (TAPs) operating at up to 100 MHz. This enables the synchronised execution of embedded test, debug and programming operations via boundary scan (IEEE 1149.x), processor emulation, chip-integrated instruments or the embedded diagnostics method.
FlashFOX is a universal programmer that can be operated in stand-alone mode or via streaming. The streaming mode facilitates the flexible adaptation or modification of programming data through dynamic transmission: the universal programmer always retrieves the latest content to be programmed from the central server. This simplifies rapid flash programming and enables centralised administration and the adjustment of images with split-second precision in a production environment. Thanks to the integrated SVF and JAM/STAPL (JESD71) player, standardised test and programming operations can be carried out independently of one another.
