Apollo Seiko, a leading provider of automated soldering solutions, will showcase its J-CAT 340 LYRA Iron Tip Soldering Robot equipped with the ARC 5000 at Booth 2717 during SMTA International 2026, taking place from October 27-29 in Rosemont, Illinois.
Designed to support increasingly complex soldering applications, the J-CAT LYRA combines precise robotic control with flexible soldering functionality. The system features localized iron tip temperature control, allowing temperatures to be set independently for each soldering point according to application requirements. Soldering conditions can also be set and adjusted through the included teaching pendant.
A key focus at SMTA International will be the ARC 5000 Iron Unit Electric Arch, an optional addition that enables the angle of the iron unit to be programmed as required. By combining the iron unit with a motor, users can register the insertion angle for individual soldering points, helping the iron tip reach difficult locations while reducing the risk of interference with surrounding components.
This added flexibility is particularly valuable in high-mix production manufacturing environments. When working with iron tips featuring different tip angles, the ARC 5000 can change to the taught angle associated with each registered program, supporting repeatable positioning across varying applications.
The J-CAT LYRA also incorporates an approach and angle retract function, allowing the iron tip to move towards a soldering point from a defined approach position and retract safely after soldering. This functionality is designed to reduce the risk of damage caused by unstable pin positions while helping prevent interference with peripheral components.
