The SMTA is introducing a new Academic Institution Membership designed to strengthen connections between academic institutions and the electronics manufacturing industry while helping prepare the next generation of industry professionals.

Available globally starting on September 1, 2026, the new membership provides colleges and universities with an easy and cost-effective way to connect their students and faculty with SMTA’s educational resources and global industry network.

“Building stronger connections between industry and academia is essential to developing the talent our industry needs for the future,” said Dan Atwood, Membership Development Manager. “By making our organization more accessible to academic institutions, we can help create stronger pathways between the classroom and the workplace.”

Faculty and students at eligible colleges and universities interested in learning more about the new membership can contact Dan Atwood at dan@smta.org or visit this page: https://smta.org/page/academic-membership
