Emil Otto Flux- und Oberflächentechnik GmbH will showcase its comprehensive portfolio of consumables for the photovoltaic industry at Intersolar Europe 2026. The focus will be on specifically developed fluxes used in the production of TOPCon and heterojunction solar cells, as well as cleaning agents and solders, which play a crucial role in the efficiency and quality of modern solar module production.
With a portfolio specifically tailored to the solar industry, Emil Otto offers solutions for key steps in the module manufacturing process. These include, in particular, solar fluxes for stable and durable solder joints, solar flux gels for precise application in sensitive processes, cleaning agents to ensure efficiency and module performance, and tube solders for reliable connections in module manufacturing. The solar fluxes, in particular, have been specifically optimized for the production of TOPCon and heterojunction solar cells and for joining solar cells. “The use of state-of-the-art fluxes is particularly critical in the production of these two cell types. Our alcohol-based FD variants dry 10 times faster than conventional fluxes. This means a lower preheating temperature is required, thereby exposing TOPCon and heterojunction cells to less thermal stress. This improves the longevity of the solar cells and saves energy during their production,” explains Markus Geßner, authorized signatory and head of marketing at Emil Otto GmbH, outlining the benefits.
Emil Otto’s solar fluxes are no-clean fluxes that leave no sticky residue, ensuring a clean manufacturing process. “Ultimately, this also protects the stringer modules, as fewer flux residues remain inside them,” Geßner adds. Process tests conducted with leading equipment manufacturers in the solar cell industry confirm the reliability and quality of Emil Otto’s flux products. “Our fluxes thus enable efficient, reliable, and reproducible production, resulting in high-quality solar cells as the final product,” explains Geßner.
In addition to manufacturing, cleaning also plays a crucial role in the performance of solar cells and photovoltaic systems. Emil Otto offers specialized cleaning agents designed to reliably remove contaminants such as salt deposits, limescale, or organic residues from solar modules, thereby ensuring long-term efficiency. Biodegradable cleaning products, such as the EO-SMC-001 to -004 SOLAR-MODUL-CLEANER, were specifically developed for the effective cleaning of solar modules in natural environments. Thanks to their excellent wetting properties and flexibility, Emil Otto’s cleaners can be easily applied by spraying, brushing, or using automatic cleaning systems. All solar cleaners remove residues easily and reliably, ensuring that the efficiency of solar systems is not compromised. Even in demanding environments, such as agri-photovoltaic parks, the cleaning agents support reliable and effective cleaning. The cleaning products therefore not only facilitate the maintenance of solar systems but also ensure long-lasting cleanliness without leaving behind harmful residues.
