The SMTA is pleased to announce several upcoming dates and locations for the SMT Processes Certification Program.

There are three programs currently scheduled for Mexico. The first takes place April 18-20, 2023 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The second is scheduled September 5-7, 2023 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. The third is co-located with the SMTA Guadalajara Expo from October 23-25, 2023 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Ivan Castellanos, Indium Corporation, instructs all three programs.

Two certification programs currently scheduled in the US. The first is scheduled for June 13-15, 2023 in Neenah, Wisconsin. The second is co-located with SMTA International, October 10-12, 2023 in Minneapolis, MN. Jim Hall, ITM Consulting, instructs both courses.

Each SMTA Certification program is a three-day offering consisting of a 1.5-day refresher workshop. The program concludes on days two and three with an open and closed book examination. This is not an entry-level program. Basic algebra will be used in the workshop and examination. This challenging examination requires both written answers and calculations with the intent to enable the attendee to establish competitive credentials as “Certified” by the SMTA in SMT Processes. The program is unique as it recognizes and certifies the entire SMT assembly process at an engineering level. The title earned by Certified SMT Process Engineers is CSMTPE.
